This book's photographic trip is centered around the 1950's and 1960's and begins at Peoria, Illinois and ends at Brewster, New York, with stops near Chicago to view NYC steam power during the 1940's.
Taking some of the secondary routes, this book covers the Peoria & Eastern, Michigan Central, and Pittsburg & Lake Erie. Side trips are made to Mackinaw City, Michigan, Pittsburgh and Newberry, Pennsylvania before reaching Albany, New York. Operating behind third rail electric locomotives, the trip reaches White Plains, New York ending under diesel power at Brewster.
