In the year 1976, our book titled "The Jersey Central Story - The Big Little Railroad" was released. It was well received. This being the time when what was left of the Central was going through a final disposition, it filled a definite need. This book did sell out and the author went on to other things. Now, there is a renewed interest in the CNJ of old. This new book, "The Jersey Central Story - A Locomotive History" carries over some of the text and a number of photos from the 1976 work but is essentially a new enterprise. Ample coverage is given to locomotives of the 1849 to 1910 era - remember, that was almost half the time that this railroad existed. Relive the sometimes prosperous, many times lean times of the Central with plenty of train action on the four track main between Jersey City and Bound Brook Junction as well as points west and south.
