Description

There was a time - largely between 1916 to 1923 - when a particularly bright idea about streetcar design took the industry by storm. The idea involved how to build a low-cost car that would be both cheap and safe to operate. What's more, this new design would be as equally at home when used to double the frequency of service on heavily traveled lines as it would be in cutting expenses on lightly traveled routes. As the title suggests, this book shows pictures of trolley cars built engineered by Charles Birney. This book includes a black and white documentary of these cars in action.
